There are people we meet who pass through our lives, and then there are the rare few who change the way we see the world. Mary was one of those people. She didn't just leave an imprint, she left instructions. She taught us to dream bigger, laugh louder, lead with courage, treat every person with dignity, and never be afraid to tackle the dragons standing in front of us. She showed us that leadership isn't about titles or power; it's about making people believe they matter.

The older I get, the more I realize that he never fully left us. He is in the stories we tell, the lessons he taught, the laughter he gave us, and the memories that still come rushing back, all these years later. Twenty one years is a long time to miss someone, but it’s also a long time to appreciate just how much they gave you. He was my dad. My hero, and one of the best men I’ve ever known. As I give just about anything to hear him give Stephen and me hell, just one more time.

Real rural revitalization cannot operate on emergency-room thinking. It requires patient capital. Long-term partnership. Continued belief in the people already doing the work on the ground.
